Be prepared well the following before you step-in for the interview.
- Get to know the requirements of the interviewer and check whether your resume is competent enough.
- You must have thorough knowledge of all the projects what you put up in the resume.
- Understand that you are the seller, selling your skills and interviewer is the buyer. So plan your answers accordingly and confidently, boosted with good communication and presentation skills.
- Do rehears your answers frequently with your friends.
During the Interview
- It is OK to be nervous; you must appear as if you are taking special care in answering the questions.
- Be confidant on what you answer, don’t be scared to the interviewers’ gestures.
- Be upbeat and positive. Never be negative.
- Your answer should not be like word-to-word type. You have to explain the answer pleasantly and make sure that the answer extends more than a minute.
- In this way you are improving the interaction with the interviewer and there is a scope to take most of his time. This will save you facing more questions from the interviewer. You need to kill the time of the interviewer with good and confidant answers.
- Killing time of the interviewer is like a knife with two sharp edges. It benefits you in case your answer is pleasant and accurate. It can give you negative marks if your answer is wrong.
- Ensure that you understand the question before you answer. Don’t give irrelevant answers if you are not sure of the answer. Just request for the next question.
- In general interviewer may ask you to ask him any questions at the end of the interview. Utilize this opportunity and give him an understanding that you are a good analyzer and looking for good companies. Don’t spoil that time with unnecessary or personal questions.
You can ask the interviewer the following questions
- May I know whether your company is implementing any quality standards ? (Don’t ask this question to MNCs and SEI CMM level companies)
- May I know whether you implement design patterns, if so what are the types ?
- May I know what types of SDLCs are used at your organization?
- As a fresher can I get your valuable advices regarding planning my career in successful way? (this is only for freshers)
- Of course few of the above questions are the internal and intellectual assets of the company and should not be disclosed. But by asking these gives the
- interviewer an impression that you have a very good exposure and looking for better companies.

After the Interview :
- Maintain a diary and note down the interview questions immediately after coming out of the interview hall.
- Discuss the questions with your friends and real time working people. Update your diary with correct answers.
- Introspect yourself and identify your strengths and weaknesses in answering the questions.
- Help yourself based on the feedback and get ready for the next interview.
