Really Very difficult thing to choose first friendship or Army's duty?

There were two friends years ago. Both of them have done their school and college together. After the graduation they thought to join army and fortunately recruited in army as a soldier. At the same time the First World War took place. Once they were attacked by enemy. Firing and bomb biding was taking place. They were far away from their trench that they have made for their safety. They reached at the trench after sometime. Meanwhile Thomas heard sound of his friend help me help me. I got injured.

Thomas was going to help him but his commander ordered him to stay in the trench. Commander said I already lost 4-5 soldiers so I can’t give u permission to go. Thomas couldn’t against the army rules. Meanwhile his friend was continuously asking for the help. After ten to fifteen minutes Thomas said to his commander that I am going to help my friend. When he came back with his friend to the trench his friend was died. Commander shouted on him saying that I told u not to go there but u didn’t follow my orders.

Thomas replied that I have taken a right decision. Because when I reached there my friend was alive and he said I knew that you will defiantly come to help me and he died. Though I didn’t save his life but at the last moment of his life I stay with him. May be he knew that he would die but he wanted to share last moment of his life with me, and I am happy that I fulfilled his last wish. What else the dying person need? Thomas’s eyes were wet. Commander was unanswered.
